MADURAI: The district administration and Corporation have stepped up surveillance in places from where Corona positive cases were confirmed and home quarantine of their contacts is underway right now.
On 10th April 2020, Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay and Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan carried out inspection at various places in the city where severe restrictions of public movement and no entry through barricades is being enforced here to prevent virus spread.
They visited Melamadai, Narimedu, Thapal Thanthi Nagar, Nellai Street, Thomas Street, Maruthupandi Street, P.T.Rajan Road, Prasad Road and Vandiyur Yagappa Nagar. In Madurai district, 25 Corona Positive cases have been confirmed as of 9th April Health Department bulletin.
Authorities and police officials have taken steps to totally restrict movement in places in Madurai where Corona infected persons and their relatives are residing. Home isolation was ordered and outsiders not allowed to enter certain restricted areas, according to a press release from the Madurai Corporation here today.
Vegetables, groceries and essential commodities are being supplied door-to-door in the restricted areas. Disinfectants are being sprayed through vehicles and drones. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against those indulging in hoarding of commodities.
Corporation assistant commissioners Mr.Palanisamy and Premkumar, Assistant City Health Officer Dr.Vinodh Raja and other officials were present during the Collector’s inspection of Corona affected localities in Madurai today.
