CHENNAI: Corona is a now a new arena for research to protect the health of Indian people and Indian economy. The challenge being posed by COVID-19 needs drug discovery to contain, prevent or even eradicate the virus. And, if it happens from Indian research labs by our scientists, what else is needed to save the world from Corona virus?.
RESEARCH, AWARDS, RECOGNITION:
Dr.K.Muthuchelian, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Dayananda Sagar University in Bangalore and former Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University at Salem in Tamil Nadu, who is an expert in environment protection, has suggested a three-pronged strategy to Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi for finding a solution to Corona infection. The ideas mooted by Prof.Dr.K.Muthuchelian on 8th April 2020 are:
1. Our PM Mr.Narendra Modi may initiate a ‘Mission for Corona virus Research’ and invite exclusively Indian scientists to work for anti-Corona drug and vaccine immediately. Medical research gets top priority.
2. Our PM Mr.Modi may / can announce to Indian scientists that a sum of Rs.10 crore cash award along with ‘Bharat Ratna’ or any other highest level award of our country will be conferred to scientist or scientists who come out and deliver a drug- vaccine against Coronavirus.
3. The drug delivered against COVID should be named after that scientist/s and a research centre should be named after him or her.
“These three steps will be a remarkable invitation to our Indian scientists….in this current scenario….Already, the people of India appreciated our PM for taking bold and timely decisions of total lockdown- self quarantine- social distancing etc. The next mission must be for research to come out with a drug-vaccine to treat Corona from India……,” Dr.K.Muthuchelian, who has a long experience at the School of Energy, Environment and Natural Resources at Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai, has suggested today- on 8th April 2020.
