MADURAI: In these times of Corona crisis when even the temples are closed, who will take care of the monkeys depending on devotees there for thier food?
At the famous Alagarkoil Temple near Madurai, devotees are coming forward to feed the monkeys at a time when Section 144 restrictions – total lockdown- have put lots of restrictions on movement.
“Since devotees are not coming to temples because they are closed, monkeys are facing hunger…..So,a businessman and industrialist Mr.Periasamy has come forward today to give bananas to starving monkeys…..,” temple sources told ‘Lotustimes’ today- 7th April 2020.
Monkeys at the famous Lord Kallazhagar Temple- Murgan Temple in Alagarkoil have a ray of hope with the initiative taken by Alagarkoil Temple staff.
MGR Mandram State joint Secretary Mr.Periasamy, MLA Mr.Periyapullan, temple Thakkar Mr.Venkatachalam, Executive Officer Anitha and others including Karunanidhi, Ganesan and Vellaisamy were among those taking steps to provide food, water, rice etc to the starving monkeys.
