MADURAI: Former Member of Parliament of Madurai Lok Sabha Constituency Mr. R.Gopalakrishnan had donated Rs.2.5 lakhs of his pension amount towards Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund as his contribution for Corona virus relief and preventive measures.
He handed over his contribution to Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.VinaY at the district collectorate here today- on 6th April 2020.
Today, the Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, Madurai, had also donated an amount to the tune of Rs.50 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund raising contributions from its members. In Madurai district and on other places, the association members are contributing donations to the CM Public Relief Fund.
Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam, president, Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, told reporters here today that steps must be in place to bring essential commodities and groceries from other States and legal action against those who sell essential products at higher price.
