
MADURAI: To reduce crowd in railway stations and in passenger reservation counters in view of Corona Virus, Indian Railways has relaxed the refund rules for the PRS counter generated tickets, an important press release from the Railway informed the passengers here today- 21st March 2020.
1. All rules for e-ticket remain the same. Passengers need not come to station for refund.
2. Relaxation for PRS generated tickets is for journey from March 21 to April 15, 2020.
3. If the train is cancelled by Railways, refund across the counter can be taken on submission of ticket up to 45 days from the date of journey. (instead of now rule of 3 hrs./72 hrs.)
4. If the train is not cancelled and passenger does not want to perform journey:
a. Ticket Deposit Receipt can be filled within 30 days from the date of journey at the station (instead of extant rule of 3 days).
b. Ticket Deposit Receipt can be submitted to Chief Claims Officer/Chief Commercial Manager in the claims office for getting the reund within 60 days of filing Ticket Deposit Receipt subject to verification from train chart (instead of extant rule of 10 days).
c. For passengers who want to cancel the ticket through 139 can get refund across the counter within 30 days from date of journey. (Instead of extant rule of upto scheduled departure of the train).
Passengers are advised to avail the facility and avoid coming to railway station during the spread of virus.
