MADURAI: A fake e-mail was sent to the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Vice-Chancellor in the name of Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi urging him to shut down the university because of Coronavirus.
Sensing that it was a fake e-mail, university authorities took up the matter to Nagamalai Pudukottai police. Based on a complaint lodged by MKU Registrar Prof.Sankar Natesan on 18th March 2020, the police had immediately filed an FIR under three sections and police are investigating the case.
According to MKU officials, the police had assured that those involved in sending fake e-mail will be identified in two days. It was learnt that the e-mail was dated 16th March. Enquiry is going on.
