Pearl Foundation Awards given to 6 Gems of India

BANGALORE: Pearl Foundation which has been doing a great work for educational excellence had presented awards and honoured six eminent personalities from different fields for their outstanding contributions and distinguished service.

The awards were given at ‘SMART Summit 2020’ (Science, Medicine, Agriculture, Research and Technology) held in Bengaluru on March 15th 2020. Prof.Dr.K.Muthuchelian, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru and former Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University in Salem, Tamil Nadu, had presided over the summit which focused on addressing the global pandemic now caused by the spread of COVID-19 – Corona Virus.

AWARDS FOR ACHIEVERS:

Renowned space scientist Dr.Mayilsamy Annadurai, former Project Director of Chandrayaan missions 1&2 and Mangalyaan ISRO Satellite Center in Bengaluru and the current vice-president of Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai, was conferred with the Pearl Foundation’s highest honour – Pearl Ratna Award 2020 – for his outstanding contribution to space science and technology in India.

The Pearl Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Prof.Dr.R.R.Hanchinal, former Chairperson, Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India and also former Vice-Chancellor of University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad, Karnataka for his outstanding contribution to agricultural sciences.

Pearl Foundation Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Dr.P.Kaliraj, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University in Coimbatore for his contribution to the field of biological sciences, to Dr.Sudha Seshayyan, Vice-Chancellor of The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University in Chennai for her contribution to the field of medical sciences, noted Tamil scholar Dr.Sirpi Balasubramaniam, Executive Board Member of Sahitya Akademi and to veteran actor Dr.Kumari P.S.Saraswathi alias Sachu for her contribution to the field of arts, culture and theatre.

BE SAFE AND VIGILANT:

Over 100 scientists, academicians and medical practitioners from across the country were also honored by the PEARL Foundation with achievement awards in recognition of their service to the country.

The important message sent out from this summit held in Bangalore on 15th March 2020 was asking people to stay safe and be vigilant in the fight against Coronavirus. The SMART Summit 2020 and award presentation event was organized by Mrs.M.Uma Sundari, secretary, Pearl Foundation and her team.

Er.B.Krithik Narain, member of Pearl Foundation, had proposed a vote of thanks, according to a press release received from the Foundation yesterday.
