MADURAI: In the wake of State-wide alert and precautionary steps taken for prevention of COVID-19 Coronavirus, a good public awareness message on the importance of washing of hands was started as a people’s movement from Madurai District Collectorate here today.
On 17th March 2020, Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay, top police official Mr.Shanmugha Rajeswaran and others took part in this ‘hand wash’ drive in which public health department staff made sure that employees and the general public coming to the collectorate understand the need to wash their hands with disinfectant and soap so as to prevent virus spread.
The same message was given to all government offices where staff and public were asked to realize the importance of hand wash constantly. Also, as per the State Government directive issued last night, the hostel students of Government Sri Meenakshi College for Women were sent to their homes today since educational institutions will be closed till 31st March 2020 due to the Coronavirus prevention strategy.
