MADURAI: The various civic infrastructure construction works taken up in Madurai under the Smart City project funded by the Central Government are going on in full swing.
On 14th March 2020, Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan along with senior officials and engineers had inspected several places where the works are going on. He had inspected Periyar Busstand which is being refurbished at a cost of Rs.159 crores and also went to North Aavani Moola Street where a multi-layer vehicle parking facility is being constructed at a cost of Rs.40 crores.
VAIGAI RIVERBED:
The Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.Visakan and City Engineer Mr.Arasu along with other officials took stock of the civil construction works being executed at Vaigai Riverbed (for Kallalagar- Chithirai festival), Pudumandapam, Meenakshi Temple surrounding areas- Masi Streets, an accommodation facility proposal near Jhansi Park for tourists and improving the civic amenities in Thirumalai Nayak Mahal area.
Assistant Commissioner Mr.Sekar, Executive Engineers Mr.Murugesa Pandian, Rajendran and many other senior Corporation officials were present during this inspection.
