
BENGALURU: A two-day faculty development workshop on ‘Application of Statistics using Excel and SPSS in Research’ was jointly organized by School of Basic and Applied Sciences (SBAS) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dayananda Sagar University in Centre for Innovation and Leadership (CIL), CD Sagar Life Science Building, Campus-1, on 11th and 12th March 2020, in Bangalore.
This was conducted as a part of the MoU signed between Dayananda Sagar University, India and Aimst University, Malaysia. The workshop focused on the motto of “Teach the Teachers” which enabled the faculty members to upgrade their skill sets in bio-analytics. The workshop was organized only for a restricted 50 members to get a better hands-on-experience.

Dr. A.N.N. Murthy, Vice-Chancellor, DSU and Prof. Dr. K. Muthuchelian, Pro-Vice Chancellor, DSU, took part in the inaugural function. The participants got good insights with a session held by Prof. Dr. K. Marimuthu from Aimst University, Malaysia who was invited as a resource person for the workshop with his long experience and specialization in Statistics for Research. The two-day faculty development workshop was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sunil S. More, Dean, SBAS, DSU as workshop convener and was coordinated by Dr. Farhan Zameer as organizing secretary.
Prof. Sunil S. More welcomed the gathering while Prof. K. Muthuchelian had delivered a preamble on statistics by creating awareness and the importance of data analytics in research and patents. Prof. Marimuthu gave an outline of the work plan and the phases of learning with introductory remarks on exploring software tools for data structures and resource applicability.
The workshop was presided over by Prof. A.N.N.Murthy who delivered presidential address which enlightened teachers with the basic understanding of transformation of data to knowledge. Prof. Murthy urged the faculty members to carry out quality research and to initiate National and International collaborations which can yield quality publications and patents.
Dr. Farhan Zameer had proposed a vote of thanks at the inaugural program and several sessions were there to enrich the DSU faculty for two days.
