MADURAI: The Federation Against State Repression (FASR) has today made a strong demand asking the Tamil Nadu Government to pass a resolution in the State Assembly immediately opposing the Central Government’s proposed NRC-NPR which has created tension and protests all over India.
“The Citizenship Amendment Act and related things like NRC-NPR are not connected to just Muslims alone. So, this Federation requests that a resolution should be passed in Tamil Nadu Assembly against NRC-NPR,” Dr.R.Murali of People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) told reporters at a press conference here today- 7th March 2020.
DELHI VIOLENCE:
Condemning the riots that took place in Delhi following hate speeches by some leaders, Dr.Murali said that compensation and relief assistance has to be given to affected persons and families in the recent Delhi riots.
Demand was also made to the Centre to take stringent action against those who made hate speeches that led to riots and violence.
Among those who were present at the press meet today include FASR convener Mr.Aranga Gunasekaran, Tamil Neyan, Mr.M.S.Raunni from Kerala and Mr.A.Marx of NCHRO.
