MADURAI: Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary Mr.T.T.V.Dinakaran has today urged the Central Government to take into account the concerns of Muslims because of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and NRC-NPR- and he also appealed to the Centre to accord citizenship to Sri Lankan refugees living in Tamil Nadu.
“India is a secular country and a democracy……..Religion based Laws should not affect any particular religion. The Central government should not take unnecessary issues. Muslims should not be isolated and another important demand is to accord citizenship to refugees from Sri Lanka who are living in Tamil Nadu for several decades,” Mr.T.T.V.Dhinakaran said while talking to reporters after attending a marriage ceremony near Madurai today- 6th March 2020.
The AMMK chief also appealed to the Union Government to be humanitarian and repeal the CAA – NRC etc because they are creating insecurity among the Muslim minorities.
Mr.T.T.V.Dhinakaran had lashed out at the DMK for its double game on the issue of minorities protection etc by stating that it was the DMK which was a partner of several legislations brought by the Centre.
