MADURAI: Coming up with a tagline saying pedal for a purpose, Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) in Madurai is organizing ‘TCE Cyclothon’ here on March 8th 2020- International Women’s Day- as an event to create public awareness of cancer among women.
The Cyclohton on March 8th will begin from TCE at Tiruparankundram in Madurai. It will be for two categories of participants- for adults it is 20 kilometers and for kids it will be 10 kilometers. This cyclothon is not a cycling race, and it is only a participation for an important public cause.
Providing some details about the TCE Cyclothon, Mr.K.Kutti Muthukumar of City Cycling Club-Madurai, said today that prevention of cancer through public awareness event is the objective of this proposed Cyclothon.
“From the TCE campus to temple ‘girivalai padhai’ Nilaiyur is for kids category and for the adults category it is from TCE campus to Nilaiyur to Sambakulam and back to the TCE.
Mr.Kutti Muthukumar has made it clear that March 8th TCE Cyclothin is not a race. “It is only for our participation to create cancer prevention awareness with a message. Medals and participation certificates will be given,” he informed.
Cycling is a good physical exercise and through pedalling of that cycle the event will spread out message on women cancer which is this year’s chosen theme.
“The City Cycling Club Madurai has been actively working for the last five years. And our Flying Wheels cycle mart at Madurai Bypass Road is involved in many major events,” Mr.Kutti Muthukumar has said.
