MADURAI: Free bicycles were distributed to 2,332 students of Madurai Corporation schools at a special function organized here today- 21st February 2020.
Cooperation Minister Mr.Sellur K.Raju, Madurai MP Mr.Su.Venkatesan, Madurai North MLA Mr.V.V.Rajan Chellappa and Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Venkatesan were among those who took part in the bicycle distribution function today.
MANY SCHEMES FOR STUDENTS:
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Mr.Sellur Raju has said that School Education Department was allotted Rs.34,187 crore in the 2020-21 Tamil Nadu Budget and the Tamil Nadu government is paying more attention to provide quality education and amenities for students.
From the year 2011 till 2019-20, totally 54,72,666 free bicycles were distributed to students at a cost of Rs.1,939 crores. During the same period, 2,34,354 cycles were given to students in Madurai district.
HAPPY SCHOOLING:
Madurai Corporation has totally 97 schools of which nine are high schools and 15 are higher secondary schools. The total number of students studying in Madurai Corporation schools is 17,976.
Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan said today that ‘Happy Learning’ system is being followed in 24 corporation schools. And, Wifi facility good internet connectivity provided in 41 corporation schools.
