MADURAI: The important spot where important events of Chithirai festival takes place along the River Vaigai in Madurai is getting affected as the area there is getting polluted because a major underground drainage line got burst today- 20th February 2020.
Lord Kallazagar gets into this river at this place in Sellur where lakhs of people turn up every year to witness the festive event. At this place, the drainage pipe leaked in a big way. Commuters and local people faced great difficulty today.
Residents of that area have appealed to the Madurai Corporation authorities to take immediate action and set right the underground drainage pipeline system quickly to prevent health hazard for people living in that locality along the Vaigai River in Madurai city.
