SIVAKASI: The Women Cell of Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College at Sivakasi had organised a one-day workshop on self defense on 17th February 2020 to enable girl students learn self defense techniques on their own.
Mrs.M.Malai Arasi, Inspector of Police, AWPS, Srivilliputhur, who was the guest speaker, had delivered a talk on violence against women. She advised the students to be alert and respond courageously to the harassment menace inside and outside their home, according to a press release here today.
Dr.C.Ashok, college Principal, delivered the presidential address while Dr.Rifaya Meera, convener of Women’s Cell, welcomed the gathering. The speakers and guests at this workshop had motivated students to be bold and brave.
Mr.Thangaraj, president, Sports and Karate Association, Virudhunagar, spoke in one session. Combat techniques to be used when they are put up in a situation where they need to react immediately and strike back the attacker were explained and demonstrated to the girl students of this college.
Dr.V.Karthigai Selvi, assistant coordinator of women cell, proposed a vote of thanks.
