KEELADI-OUR HISTORY: SIXTH PHASE BEGINS (Video)

Keeladi 6th Phase inauguration on 19th Feb 2020.

MADURAI: The sixth phase of excavation at the excitement-creating ancient historical Keeladi site in Sivaganga district near Madurai began today- 19th February 2020.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Edapadi K Palanisamy launched the sixth phase through video conferencing from Chennai in the morning. The Archaeology Department of Government of Tamil Nadu is carrying out this sixth phase and it will go on till the end of September this year.

Keeladi excavations are bringing to light several interesting historical facts and greatness of an ancient civilisation that thrived on the banks of Vaigai river. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) was also involved in the earlier phases and at present the excavation is being done by the Archaeology Department.  

Sivaganga District Collector Mr.J.Jayakanth, Madurai MP Mr.Su.Venkatesan and a large number of people were present at Keeladi near here today when the 6th phase excavation commenced.
