MADURAI: In the wake of intensified protests against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), police security has been stepped up at Madurai airport as a precautionary measure.
Various political parties and Muslim organizations have been holding protests in the city opposing the CAA for the past few weeks.
The police are on alert at the entry point to prevent protesters if they try to enter into the airport premises. Madurai District SP Mr.Manivannan had directed police personnel to be constant vigil near the airport.
Today, additional police force led by inspector Charmi Wesley are at the spot taking care of police security outside the airport here.
