MADURAI: Tension prevailed at the Madurai District Collectorate here today as a woman with her two children and also another old woman attempted suicide by dousing kerosene.
A woman from Tiruppalai in Madurai- Vernika Annaimary- came to the district collectorate in Madurai today being grievance hearing dayi- 17th February 2020. She tried to immolate herself along with two children complaining against her husband Anbuchelian who is using social media posts with messages about herself who is his second wife.
The woman has said that police did not take any action despite her complaints. Another old woman from Avaniapuram in Madurai also tried to take this extreme step of committing suicide saying that she was cheated by a person in a financial transaction and property issue.
Alert police personnel at the Madurai District Collectorate quickly acted and prevented the suicide attempt. Police enquiry is going on in both these cases which happened today in public glare in Madurai- 17th February 2020.
