MADURAI: To mark the centenary celebrations of Red Cross, a rally was organized in Madurai on 14th February 2020 by the Indian Red Cross Society- Madurai Branch.
District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay had flagged off the rally at collectorate here and lauded the significant contribution of Red Cross volunteers for the society through their wide range of service activities from blood donation to first aid to disaster management. Madurai district collector is the president of IRCS Madurai Branch.
Dr.Pugalagiri Vadamalayan, chairman of Red Cross-Madurai Branch, V.M.Jose, vice-chairman, Mr.M.Gopalakrishnan, secretary and members of Junior Red Cross and Youth Red Cross were among those present at the event in Madurai yesterday.
Mr.Gopalakrishnan has said that it was a splendid service by Red Cross volunteers across the world for last 100 years and in Madurai also the volunteers of Red Cross are most sought after.
