MADURAI: Responding to the request of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Income Tax Department has set up a TDS Help Desk in Madurai.
The TDS Help Desk is now available at Income Tax Office in Meenambalpuram here. It was inaugurated today- 10th February 2020- in the presence of Mr.Gunjan Prasad, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Chennai and Mr.Rajiv Vijay Nabar, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Madurai.
Mr.N.Jegatheesan, Chamber president, Mr.J.Selvam, secretary, Mr.S.Rethinavelu, senior president and other office-bearers of the chamber, were present at the inaugural function, according to a press release here today.
When Mr.Rajiv Vijay Nabar visited he chamber on 27th January 2020, the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry had made a representation to him to set up a TDS Help Desk to redress the grievances and provide guidance to tax assessees regarding TDS procedures and formalities.
Today, the TN Chamber team requested the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax to recommend for establishing Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Bench at Madurai for the benefit of IT assessees in nine southern districts from Madurai to Kanyakumari districts. “Now, the assessees are forced to travel to travel to Chennai to file Income Tax Appeals at the Tribunal in Chennai,” the press release added.
