MADURAI: A major fire broke out in a private godown in Kappalur Industrial Estate at Tirumangalam near Madurai today afternoon – 10th February 2020.
Ganesan, a 40-year-old worker died on the spot because of the fire. Another seven persons severely injured in the fire mishap were rushed to Tirumangalam Govt Hospital and to the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) in Madurai.
The private godown was storing hazardous substances where the workers were there, according to the information available. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and controlled the fire. Tirumangalam police have registered a case and are investigating.
