Learning with line drawing, an artist sketches the way

CHENNAI: Education and learning are an evolving process. They keep changing with times and new teaching-learning methods make it to school classrooms. Now came a creative way of teaching-learning tool which is ‘Line Drawing’.

Artist Ms.N.Swarnalatha had authored five volumes of Holistic Education for school children -Classes 1 to 5 – which introduces the kids to nuances of drawing and painting skills through drawing workbooks. These books from beginners level are meant for primary classes and were released at an event held in Chennai on 7th February 2020.

IN SCHOOL CURRICULUM:

Artist Ms.N.Swarnalatha, who won over 100 awards as a woman achiever, has explained that the art of drawing has to be introduced methodically in the curriculum. 

“Line drawing learning promotes creativity and talent. Drawing and painting skills are necessary for all students as much as writing because many subject demand diagrams, graphs etc. In higher education also, drawing is needed in courses such as medicine, textile designing, sculpture, animation, teacher education and other fields, So, a lot of research was done for children of 1 to 5 classes to learn line drawing step-by-step through these drawing workbooks,” she said. 

Justice R.Mahadevan, Judge, Madras High Court, had released the books in Chennai on 7th February 2020 and received by senior advocate Dr.R.Gandhi. More details about the just released books can be had from N.Swarnalatha Art Studio, second main road, Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai-28.
