MADURAI: A seven-member Japan team visited the place where the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is coming up at Thoppur near here – 6th January 2020.
At an estimated cost of Rs.1,264 crores, the Madurai AIIMS is being established and works have begun. Funding assistance from Japan will come after the basic preliminary civil works are completed. Major civil construction works are completed in the first phase for which the Central Government had allocated Rs.5 crores.
IN FOUR MONTHS:
The visiting Japanese team today enquired about the civil works in progress from the authorities. Funding support from Japan was sought to establish AIIMS at Thoppur-Austinpatti in Madurai.
First phase civil works of Madurai AIIMS are expected to be completed in next four months. Compound wall works of this huge campus are now in progress along with slab works. Major part of compound wall work is over for over five kilometers.
Steps have been taken with funding allocation by the National Highways to create pathways to Madurai AIIMS.
