Nursing good thoughts to students, DSU lights lamps

BANGALORE: Florence Nightingale. A name that is important in everyone’s life because she nursed the idea of a nurse who serves a patient and helps save precious lives.

Spreading that message, the campus of Dayananda Sagar University in Bangalore had a lamp lighting ceremony for the fifth batch of B.Sc.Nursing students of Dayananda Sagar College of Nursing on 31st January 2020, held by varsity’s College of Nursing Sciences.

FAMOUS FLORENCE:

Budding nurses took part in a procession remembering the Lady with the Lamp Florence Nightingale. Ms.P.Antonia, Director, Development and Education for Patient Care and Nursing Services, Chandramma Sagar Institute of Medical Education and Research, was the chief guest for this event which was presided over by Prof.Dr.K.Muthuchelian, Pro Vice Chancellor, DSU and steered by Dr.V.Murugan, Dean, School of Health Sciences.

First year B.Sc.Nursing students lit the lamp as a symbolic entry into scared field of nursing and oath was administered to them by Ms.Antonia who spoke about ethical commitment, safety in patient care and effective communication among nurses.

Dr.Muthuchelian had congratulated the ‘New Nightingales’ . Dr.J. Sharmila, Principal, CONS, DSU, presented the annual report for 2018-19.
Mrs.P.M.Priya, Tutor, College of Nursing, welcomed the gathering while Mrs.Shivaleela, Head of Department, Paediatric Nursing, had proposed a vote of thanks.
