MADURAI: More than 1,000 women police and members of women Self Help Groups today took a two-wheeler drive in Madurai city to create public awareness about road safety, helmet wearing and prevention of accidents by avoiding speed driving.
This effort was a part of 31st Road Safety Awareness Week events in Madurai city. From Tamukkam Grounds to Palanganatham junction, the road safety rally was taken out covering important places in Madurai city.
Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay, City Police Commissioner Mr.Davidson Devaseervatham, Law and Order top official Karthik and traffic deputy commissioner Sugumaran, were among those who took part in this road safety awareness rally.
“Bike race, over speeding, share-auto crowding will not be allowed in Madurai city. Sudden stopping by share autos and traffic problem due to traffic rules violations will be booked as police cases,” officials warned today.
