MADURAI: Alanganallur Jallikattu, which is a world famous bull taming event, began today morning at Alanganallur in Madurai district. Totally 700 bulls and 920 bull tamers are participating.
Elaborate arrangements have been made since more than 10,000 people are expected to watch this jallikattu which will go on till evening. Two cars will be presented as prizes to winners besides many other prizes to participating bull tamers. The prize distribution will be held in the evening.
Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister Mr.R.B.Udayakumar, Madurai district Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay, South Zone police IG Mr.Shanmuga Rajeswaran and several others were present at Alanganallur when the event started.Also, 100 foreign tourists are watching the jallikattu today thanks to the arrangements made by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. And, nearly 2,000 police personnel are taking care of security.
