MADURAI: The first jallikattu of Madurai district was successfully conducted at Avaniapuram here today.
Totally 641 bulls were put into action in nine rounds while lot of safety measures taken by district administration.
The jallikattu took place under the supervision of retired judge Manickam. Madurai district collector Dr.T.G.Vinay, Madurai city police commissioner Mr.Davidosn Devasahayam and Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.Visakan were among those who were present through the day and monitored.
Prizes were distributed to the winners. Bulls from various district includijng Madurai, Tiruchi, Karur. Pudukottai and Coimbatore were brought for Avaniapuram jallikattu which started at 8 am and concluded at 4.30 pm on January 15th 2020.
Nine persons who were injured were admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here and they are said to be safe.
