MADURAI: BJP functionaries at ward and mandal level have alleged that the election fund given by the party leadership to Madurai district for 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the recent local body elections was not fully disbursed to the mandal /ward/ booth level for which it was meant.
Sources told ‘Lotus Times’ news website in the last one week that only a portion of the given election fund from Chennai had reached the ground level. They are demanding the Tamil Nadu BJP and national leadership to look into the accounts and transactions, question the Madurai district leaders on how much was disbursed to ground level for meeting the election expenses. Angry BJP functionaries have requested the State leaders to hold an investigation in other districts also because it is party fund and not personal fund.
“Our party from the top gives money for election purpose…..But it is not fully reaching us. Where is that cash going? Since ours is a party with transparency and with a difference, the Madurai BJP leaders should be asked to explain. Our cadres know what is happening,” a BJP office-bearer here has said on condition of anonymity.
