MADURAI: Residents of Avaniapuram in Madurai had staged a protest today morning demanding the Corporation authorities to provide uninterrupted supply of drinking water in their area.
Angry women from Ward 60 Ambedkar Nagar in Avaniapuram here resorted to road blockade and sat on dharna condemning the Madurai Corporation officials for not taking action despite their repeated pleas for drinking water.
The protesters said that drinking water is not available in their locality for the past one month. Traffic was disrupted for nearly one hour. Police tried to pacify the protesters. Corporation officials went to the spot and spoke to Avaniapuram residents assuring them of proper drinking water supply.
