Krishnagiri college Principal bags Leadership Award 2019

MADURAI: Dr.S.David Amirtharajan, Principal, Arignar Anna (Arts and Science) College at Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu, was presented with ‘Outstanding Leadership Principal of the Year Award’, at an event held in Goa on 21st December 2019.

The award carrying Certificate of Appreciation and a trophy was presented to him at the International Education Awards 2019 presentation ceremony that took place at Hotel Novotel in Candolim, Goa. This was organised by ‘KITES’ to honour those who made significant contribution towards education and students’ welfare.

Dr.David Amirtha Rajan told ‘Lotus Times’ news website over phone today that he felt immensely honoured for getting this award and profusely thanked the staff and students of Arignar Anna College, Krishnagiri.
“I always motivated my students towards discipline, but never punished any student. At the same time, I adopted turnaround steps to revamp the campus by following professional models…I maintained good relations with faculty and society. Extra money was not collected from students. All that they have to pay is only tuition fees,” the Principal said.

Dr.David Amirtharajan took keen interest in implementing women empowerment activities in Krishnagiri district and surrounding areas by creating awareness to prevent early marriage, girl child education etc. In the college, many personality development / career guidance programs are being carried out for the benefit of rural students. Also, 24 villages were adopted by the college where awareness about Prime Minister welfare schemes is being created for rural folk.
   
As a Governor Nominee, he is presently a member of Planning Board of Alagappa University in Karaikudi. He is also a former Dean of College Development Council of Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai and was a senior faculty at the renowned American College here.
