MADURAI: Hundreds of people turned up at Teppakulam in Madurai early in the morning today to witness the rare annular solar eclipse and make 26th December 2019 a memorable day for them.
Galileo Science Centre, Madurai, has made special arrangements for the public to watch the ‘Ring of Fire’ and at around 9.35 a.m. the solar eclipse was 93 per cent visible in Madurai city. Special solar filters/ eclipse glasses were provided to those who came to see the solar eclipse.
AT FIVE PLACES IN MADURAI:
According to information available, arrangements were made by various science centres at five places here for people to watch the annular solar eclipse and in all the places hundreds of people gathered to watch this rare eclipse. One such place was Teppakulam here where the Galileo Science Centre took steps for the benefit of enthusiasts who did not want to miss the opportunity today.
Since the visibility of this much awaited solar eclipse was 93 per cent at around 9.33 a.m., there was joy among those who gathered and all of them left for their homes happily. Solar eclipse occurs when Moon passes between Earth and the Sun.
