MADURAI: A new type of knee joint preserving surgery was successfully performed at Apollo Reach Hospital in Karaikudi, Sivaganga district in Tamil Nadu, for a 22-year-old young man by its orthopedic team.
The youngster who suffered injury six months ago went to Karaikudi Apollo where he was evaluated by in-house orthopaedician Dr.T.Rajendran and osteochondral defect was found out, Immediately attention was given to the damaged knee. He was advised to go for cartilage repair surgery to protect his knee, according to a press release here.
PRESS CONFERENCE:
Cartilage repair has been done under an insurance plan and the surgery was successful. Dr.Rajendran said that the youngster will be healed in three to four months. The Apollo Reach Hospital at Karaikudi is equipped to perform many arthroscopic and joint replacement surgeries.
The details about this successful knee joint preserving surgery were shared at a press conference held in Karaikudi on 21st December 2019 by Hospital Administrator A.Selvakumari Lavanya, medical superintendent Dr.V.G.Venkatachalapathy, Dr.Rajendran and others.
