MADURAI: Distance education major Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has celebrated its 34th Foundation Day today at its headquarters in New Delhi and in all 67 Regional Centres simultaneously.
Mr.Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, president, ICCR and Rajya Sabha MP, took part in the celebration function which was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof.Nageswara Rao, in New Delhi today.
At Madurai Regional Centre here, IGNOU Regional Director Dr.D.R.Sharma presided over the function, according to a press release. Dr.Balasubramania Raja, Head, Department of Communications, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, was the chief guest.
Mr.Pon.Dhanapalan, programme executive, All India Radio, Madurai, was the guest of honour. Dr.D.R.Sharma, Regional Director, spoke about IGNOU’s steady growth and its support services available in the field of distance education across the country for reaching the unreached.
