CHENNAI: Traders all over Tamil Nadu have stepped up their protests against film actor Vijay Sethupathi and gave a boycott call for his film ‘Sangatamilan’ being released in cinema theatres on November 15th.
“We are garnering public support for our genuine cause. And we are telling people not to go to cinema halls to watch Vijay Sethupati’s film and waste their money. Instead they should see the film later online download from home. This is our stand,” Mr.C.Arunachala Moorthy, Chennai Mandal president of traders’ federation -‘Tamil Nadu Anaithu Vanigar Sangangalin Peramaippu – told ‘Lotustimes’ website today.
PROTEST AGAINST ADVERTISEMENT:
Small traders and retailers are angry with actor Vijay Sethupathi for his MANDEE advertisement promoting online commodity purchases and their demand is that he should withdraw from the commercial advertisement since online business will severely affect the business of small traders, retailers, vendors and small shops.
MEETING TODAY IN CHENNAI:
The traders’ federation has called for an urgent meeting today November 13th evening at its office in Kolathur in Chennai to decide on the action plan and protests for the next two days ahead of Vijay Sethupathi’s film release.
“Our office-bearers will discuss how to hold protests on November 15th. Already we are distributing pamphlets urging people to see the film online from their homes only. Don’t go to theatres to see ‘Sangatamilan’ film and only then Vijay Sethupathi will understand our pain. If we do not go to cinema halls to see his movie, he will realize the agony of our traders and retailers,” Mr.Arunachala Moorthy has said.
