MADURAI: November 14th is World Diabetes Day. ‘Sugar’ level in our body is an important factor for heart functioning. A very senior cardiologist in our country Dr.A.Mathavan has today cautioned that eating ‘PAROTTA’ is very dangerous especially for ‘sugar patients.’
BLEACHING POWDER WITH CHEMICALS:
“Parotta is a tasty and mouth-lingering dish especially in Tamil Nadu. It is soft and tasty, but the Parotta-Saalna’ combination will badly affect pancreas, the calories are more and the ‘maida’ flour used to prepare ‘parotta’ is like a bleaching powder,” Dr.A.Mathavan, Director of Cardiology, Velammal Speciality Hospitals and a senior interventional cardiologist,” told ‘Lotustimes’ news website over phone this morning.
Stating that food habits and lifestyle modification along with daily physical exercise can prevent or control diabetes to significant extent and thereby leads to a healthy heart, Dr.Mathavan advised people to avoid ‘parotta’, junk foods and fashion foods
“Once in a while you can eat parotta. But we see 24-hour parotta shops in Tamil Nadu especially in Madurai area. Parotta addiction is not at all good. My appeal to parents is they must ensure that their children eat millets, healthy foods and our traditional food items. Vegetables and fruits must be a part of our eating plate,” he added.
