TIRUVANNAMALAI: Preparatory works for the ‘Thiruvannamalai Brahmotsavam’ and the ‘Karthigai Deepam’ festival events to be held from November 28th to December 14th 2019 are now going on in full swing on this famous 2,668- feet high Hill shrine.
On 3rd November (Sunday), a team of temple authorities led by Mr.Vijayakumar took stock of the works in progress and checked the readiness of sacred decorative materials to be used for processions of deities to be undertaken during this auspicious days at the world famous Arunachaleshwarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu.
TIRUVANNAMALAI ‘MAHA DEEPAM’: (Video)
The much awaited ‘Maha Deepam’ event which means lighting of the grand lamp atop the mast on this Tiruvannamalai hill will take place on December 10th 2019 at 6 P.M.., temple officials said today.
“Tiruvannamalai is known as ‘mukthi sthalam’. Karthigai Deepam is an important festival here…..Lakhs of devotees will throng Tiruvannamalai to witness Lord Annamalaiyar. The Karthigai festival here starts on December 1st with flag hoisting,” an official said.
On December 10th early morning 4 a.m., there will be ‘Bharani Deepam’ event followed by ‘Maha Deepam’ in the evening atop the Hill.
“Today, some works connected to keeping the chariot (Ther) cloth decoration have been taken up and all chariots to take the processions of the idols are refurbished. Since Tiruvannamalai is an important pilgrim centre and ‘Karthigai Deepam’ being very famous in this ancient temple town, we are working in full swing for the grand success of this year’s festival too,” temple sources said today.
