VIRUDHUNAGAR: Leaders and cadres of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have paid their tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at special events through ‘Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra’ held in connection with his 150th birth anniversary.
At Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district on October 11th 2019, the party’s district unit had organised an awareness walk-cum-street corner meeting to involve the local people in paying respects to Gandhiji and recalled his complete life and contributions for our country’s freedom struggle.
IN SIVAKASI FOR GANDHIJI:
Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan, who is the party’s Madurai Zone In-Charge, along with Virudhunagar district president Mr.GT. Solaiappan and a large number of functionaries and cadres, took part in the ‘padayatra’ that began from Sivakasi bus stand. Local people and prominent persons took part in the Mahatma march upto Thirutthangal.
M.Gajendran, BJP District general secretary, Virudhunagar district, and others participated. They also paid respects to other freedom fighters and patriots. The sacrifice of great leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kamaraj was recalled.
A similar event to pay respects to the Mahatma was also held in Periyakulam assembly constituency in Theni district, according to party’s district functionary Rajapandi. Party cadres and public turned up in large numbers for the ‘Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra’ today in Periyakulam. BJP Theni district president V.Venkateswaran, Mr. Rajapandian besides district general secretary Muthumani and others participated.
