MADURAI: ‘Ashokamitran – 2019′, an event to remember and to mark the birth anniversary of prolific legendary eminent Tamil writer, late Ashokamitran, will be held at Velammal Vidyalaya in Ayanampakkam, in Chennai on September 23rd 2019 Monday, from 1.30 pm to 3 pm.
This important function to celebrate and teel students about the great writings of Sahitya Akademi Award winner is being organized by Velammal School and Kolam Trust where the younger generation now will get an opportunity to know about the greatness of a Tamil writer who is always revered and remembered.
Born as J.Tyagarajan, he assumed a PEN NAME ‘ASHOKA MITRAN’ and his journey in the field of writing went on for several decades. The prolific writer had passed away in 2017 leaving behind some of his great works as short stories, novels, essays and commentaries. He has done several acclaimed works in Tamil literature and he is a very accomplished thinker in English language too showing with his pen.
His sons Mr.Ravi and senior journalist Mr.T.Ramakrishnan will address the school students about the life of their father who lived for writing and literature. The event on September 23rd 2019 at Velammal Vidyalaya will be attended by various prominent writers besides Padmavathi from Kolam Arakkattalai who will first give a brief introduction about the event to mark the birth anniversary of legendary Ashokamitran.
