Thiruvananthapuram: The 106th Srimad Bhagavatha Sapthaham 2019 was grandly celebrated here invoking the blessings of Lord Maha Vishnu with a large number of devotees turning up for this important religious event.
Organised by Chalai Grama Brahmana Samudayam, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, the 106th year Bhagavatha Sapthaham took place from September 7th to 15th 2019 at Sree Mahaganapathy Bhajana Madom in Valiyachalai Street in Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala). The closing ceremony was held on September 15th evening with Sreemath Bhagavathgeetha Upanyasam followed by other rituals.
During this nine-day event, there were ‘Pravachanam’ sessions in the evenings in which the significance of various topics such as Sreemath Bhagavatha Mahathyam, Sree Varaha Avatharam, Gajendramoksham, Sree Vamana Avatharam, Sree Krishna Avatharam and Bhagavath Geetha.
VERY IMPORTANT PROGRAMME:
A devotee who is closely associated with this Bhagavatha Sapthaham in Thiruvananthapuram has said that ‘parayanam’ was done chapter wise and it an important congregation to understand the essence of Bhagavatham, Bhagavath Geetha and Vishnu Avatharam.
“You can imagine how important this Sreemad Bhagavatha Sapthaha is for us from the fact that this is 106th year. Guruji Brahmasree Gopala Valli Dasar was the ‘yajnacharya’ this year. On the last day on September 15th, there was veda parayanam and homam too,” the devotee has said.
History has it that Sreemad Devaki Nandanasrama Swamigal, who was born in a village called Lakshmipur in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, came down to the State of Travancore and conducted the Sreemad Bhagavtha Sapthaha Mahayajna in 1913, perhaps for the first time and since then it is continuing in accordance with our Hindu traditions. The blessings of Sri Kanthalloor Mahadeva Temple in Valiachalai Street in Thiruvananthapuram are considered very important by people here.
The 100th year of Sreemad Bhagavatha Sapthaham was celebrated from 13th to 21st August in the year 2013. It was centenary year celebrations and blessings.
As usual, this year’s celebrations also saw very good response from devotees and a large number of people took part in the deity procession Garuda Vahanam procession took our as part of valedictory celebration.
In all, the 106th year Bhagavatha Sapthaham, organised by Chalai Grama Brahmana Samudhayam, at Valia Chalai Street in Thiruvananthapuram, went off very well thanks to the support and active participation of devotees who were ushered the blessings of Maha Vishnu and Lord Srikrishna.
