MADURAI: Though it is all in a very preliminary stage, the BJP national leadership which seems to be toying with several ideas to rejuvenate its Tamil Nadu State unit’s rank and file, is importantly  considering to have a working president also along with the overall State president.

Since, the BJP has lot of time at its disposal and Tamil Nadu is not an immediately election-going State, the top brass of the party in New Delhi is “eliciting several views” from its State office-bearers.

“We have our party sources telling us that there could be two presidents who will handle two geographical regions in Tamil Nadu. Maybe one working president for southern districts in this State. Also another working president for districts coming under the western region is a possibility. This is just a thought floated by the leadership and views are being taken from our State unit,” two State office-bearers told “Lotus Times’ website on September 12th 2019.

After Mr.Amit Shah took over as Union Home Minister in Modi 2.0, the party had appointed Mr.J.P.Nadda as working president at national level. The same may be done in Tamil Nadu too in order to bring it under the party’s complete view with strategic focus.

The Congress party had appointed three working presidents for its Telangana unit before the last Assembly elections and similar model was tried in Andhra Pradesh too by other parties for political reasons in the party and in government.

Since Dr.Tamilisai Soundararajan had taken over as Telangana Governor on September 8th 2019, the BJP is on the lookout for a new State president for Tamil Nadu.

And, sharing / distributing the work between State president and working presidents of the Tamil Nadu State unit maybe tried to strengthen BJP with geographical focus shared by the party president and working presidents, an office-bearer said.
