BJP high command sets 3-point criteria for next T.N. State Chief

CHENNAI: All eyes and ears are now open among the BJP cadres and even other political parties in Tamil Nadu to quickly know just one thing: WHO IS GOING TO REPLACE Dr.Mrs.Tamilisai Soundararajan ( she took over as Telangana Governor on Sept 8th 2019) as next BJP State president. Their anxiety is at the peak for the announcement. Speculation is rife.

Sources in New Delhi and Chennai told ‘Lotus Times’ news website on September 12th 2019 that the BJP national leadership will decide on the next State unit chief after examining in detail into THREE IMPORTANT CRITERIA that would make him eligible for the post.

THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA ARE IMPORTANT:

1. Since the BJP in Tamil Nadu is yet to become a complete dominant force to face elections on its own as of now, the Amit Shah- Modi- J.P.Nadda combine is going to select a person who has good / wide / cordial / friendly contacts with other important political parties in Tamil Nadu apart from their service to the BJP.
This, the national leadership believes, will be easy in forging quick alliances for next elections and if the State BJP president is influential, he can handle the political alliance, partners, fluid situation if any, and other aspects easily due to acceptability by others.

2. As the BJP top national brass – especially Modi-Amit Shah duo – had made it clear that Tamil Nadu will be an important focus after Telangana State – the party intelligence teams are still gathering ground level information about right candidates, their profile and right talent so that the national president will be able to make his final choice.

” Lobbying is taking place heavily now to choose Dr.Tamilisai’s successor. Our national leadership is getting information about potential candidates and their ground level work. Even the candidates may soon be called for a sort of personal interview before taking any decision. The names of ACTIVE CANDIDATES for Tamil Nadu State BJP president are being filtered now based on inputs,” a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, who is also occupying a national post in the party, has said on September 12th 2019.

3. The BJP national leadership is yet to decide on whether to go for a complete senior, or appoint a new or old face to lead the party in Tamil Nadu. However, it will be a person who is ACTIVE and ACCEPTABLE. Clout in the party and personal influence have no more place in making the selection.

The names of former Union Minister Pon.Radhakrishnan, senior leader H.Raja, Madurai Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan and Nainar Nagendran are in strong circulation as of today.
Also, K.T.Raghavan and A.P.Muruganandham’s names are doing the rounds in national capital under ‘young leaders’ category. But, sources said that it will be right to appoint a person who had contested elections in the State. So, it is clear that experience and fieldwork done till now will be the yardstick for selection for the present term.

“Just wait for less than two weeks, the name will be out. I don’t think the name will be kept pending till organizational internal elections are over since it will be get delayed,”  a party office-bearer based in Chennai, has said.
