MADURAI: Stamp collection or philately is a very good hobby that delves into the past and puts our culture and heritage to posterity.
A Seventh standard school girl M.Jayabavani showed her passion for patriotism and nationalism through her exclusive collection of ‘THE GREAT INDIANS’ displayed at the SANGAMPEX 2018 district level philatelic exhibition held in Madurai MADITSSIA Hall on September 3rd and 4th 2018.
Thousands of school and college students along with general public and philately lovers queued up to see this stamp exhibition which was organised by the Department of Posts – India, Madurai Division.

Jayabavani along with her father Mr.S.MageshKannan (a Government school teacher) is explaining to the visitors about her rare collection of 40 stamps which include freedom fighters, queens and kings and Tamil literature greats.
“In this expo, I am displaying 16 sheets containing 40 stamps…….With my father’s encouragement, I collected nearly 300 rare stamps in the last one year. Here, I am showing interesting stamps of Hedgewar. Kodikatahkumaran, Chathrapathi Sivaji, Netaji Bose, Dadabhai Naoroji, Jhansi Rani and others. I also thank my school LINGA MATRICULATION SCHOOL – Tirumangalam,” Jayabavani has said on September 4th 2018.
Her father Mr.Magesh looked delighted when he said that her daughter is taking part in philately exhibition for the second time. She is also interested in coin collection numismatics.
