He came out with his analysis on August 10th 2018 and put it in public domain social media space. According to Mr. Jayaprakash Gandhi …..
AT THE END OF 3rd ROUND…CUT-OFF 150:
1. It was noted that 214 engineering colleges has filled less than 10 seats.
2. Seventy one engg colleges could not fill even one single seat.
3. B.E. Civil and Mechanical have become least preferred among the core branches.
4. Computer Science Engineering course is most preferred
5. Many colleges which had surrendered Information Tech (IT) branch few years back are now regretting for surrendering IT. At that time, they took mechanical, but mechanical is now among least preferred branches.
6. Surprisingly, like last year Chemical Engineering is becoming preferred by students in many engineering colleges.
7. Only 30 self-financing colleges has filled more than 50 per cent of seats at the end of third round of counselling.
WHAT IS THE TREND NOW?
8 Preference for Tamil medium Civil and Mechanical had come down drastically.
9. Preference for bio-tech and bio-medical courses is good like last year.
10 Secondary branches like automobile and production engg are least preferred even in top self financing colleges
11. Only 47 self financing colleges filled more than 30 per cent of the seats till the end of third round counselling.
12. All the Government and university dept colleges have filled more than 40 percent of their seats at the end of their round of counselling.
13. With the current trend indications, it is likely that only about 72,000 seats will get filled at the end of fifth round of admission counselling. This will be the lowest number when compared to last few years.
14. Anna Univerisy and all the affiliated colleges have to rethink and make sure that they invest in future technologies and accordingly plan their syllabus in tune with the industry’s needs
.
15. It is also high time that industries start involving in a much bigger way with the institutions so that they get quality skillful engineering graduates.
16. Once again I would like to remind that the ANNA UNIVERSITY counselling for this academic year 2018-19 for engineering colleges is a WAKE-UP CALL for engg colleges in Tamil Nadu and to the recruiters.
