MADURAI: The importance of Basic Life Support and public awareness cum training on use of Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to attend to sudden heart attacks and save as many lives as possible was the hearty message sent out from the Cardiology Conclave 2018 in Madurai on July 28th 2018.
Dr.A.Mathavan. Director – Cardiology. Velammal Hospital here, explained about the AED and the plan to impart public awareness training, to the Union Defence Minister Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman, who inaugurated the National Holistic Cardiology Conclave 2018 supported by Velammal Hospital here.

Active Heart Foundation is spearheading extensive public training programmes and deploying of AEDs in public places. Mr.Prem demonstrated to the Union Minister the use of Automatic External Defibrillator which helps in cardiac revival.
Awards were presented for luminary international and national cardiologists for their contribution in the field of cardiology. The recipients include Dr.Samuel Asirvatham.
Among those present at the inaugural function of the cardiology conclave were Velammal Educational Trust Chairman Mr.M.V.Muthuramalingam. Madurai District Collector Mr.K.Veera Raghava Rao and Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan.
