SIVAKASI: “A wrong projection about Sivakasi in some sections of the media and wrong perception among certain groups about the cracker industry are causing damage to the reputation of Sivakasi. It is time to stop creating wrong public opinion on this important enterprising town,” Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan, has said on Monday.
“BJP has always been in solidarity with Sivakasi (in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu) ….This is a place of pride because the local industries / local economy and fireworks industry grew on their own without Government support. Sivakasi emerged as a manufacturing and business hub on its own. This town developed despite several hardships/ constraints,” he added.

Prof.Dr.Srinivasan was speaking at a seminar organised by the BJP’s Virudhunagar district Intellectual Cell on the issue – “Save cracker and fireworks industry” – in Sivakasi on November 27th 2017.
Stating that Sivakasi is a place of self-confidence, the BJP leader had appealed to the media and public groups to create positive opinion about this place which is providing livelihood to lakhs of families in the region and employment to people in cracker manufacturing units.
“The public opinion about Sivakasi should change. This is a place for many good educational institutions. Inspite of lacking policy support, the town had managed to maintain its business activity in top gear,” Prof.Dr.Srinivasan had pointed out.
