MADURAI: A team of leaders and office-bearers of the BJP in Madurai met party’s national leader and national coordinator Mr.Arvind Menon in Madurai on November 16th 2017 (Thursday afternoon).
Mr.Menon, an important leader of the BJP who functions from party headquarters in New Delhi, is the national coordinator for 19 departments and 10 projects initiated by national president Mr.Amit Shah for a focused functioning by special teams in all the States.
Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan and Madurai Urban district president Mr.Saseeraman explained about various activities being carried out by the party here.
WORK BY DEPARTMENT OF POLICY:
Prof.Dr.Srinivasan, who is the team leader for policy department in Tamil Nadu BJP, had briefed Mr.Menon about the exclusive discussion with experts, organised in Madurai on November 3rd 2017 for three important issues under the aegis of ‘Initiative for Public Policy’.
The three issues discussed in that meeting were: Economic development / empowerment of southern districts in Tamil Nadu, protecting our local water bodies and a socio-economic study of Hindu temples.
Mr.Arvind Menon was also informed about the next plan to conduct in Madurai a brainstorming session on community mental healthcare by the BJP’s Department of Policy inviting leading psychiatrists, mental health experts, social workers and other stakeholders.

Shastry V.Mallady, BJP Intellectual Cell State secretary, showed Mr.Menon the documentation / filing work being done in the BJP Parliament Constituency Office in Madurai and about the ‘Lotus Times’ English news website.
The way in which BJP news and important activities of the party are being updated on daily basis on the www.lotustimes.org website was showed to Mr.Arvind Menon.
Among those who were present during the brief meeting with Mr.Arvind Menon in Madurai include BJP Madurai Urban district general secretary (Org) Mr.K.K.Sreenivasan, district vice-president Mr.S.K.Hariharan, Parliament Constituency Office secretary Mr.G.P.Baskaran, youth wing district secretary Pudur Praveen Raj and Mr.Pudur Saravanan.
