MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is headquartered in Madurai, had expressed its views, suggestions and representations to the ‘Initiative for Public Policy’ forum at a special discussion held in Madurai on November 3rd 2017 (Friday).
Mr.N.Jagadeesan, chamber president, aired his views at this meeting where the discussion was led by Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Mr.La.Ganesan.
This was the first major meeting of the ‘Initiative for Public Policy’ forum for southern districts, which was held at MADITSSIA Hall in Madurai, in which experts from various fields were invited to discuss and to elicit their opinions / suggestions on important public issues.
NO HEAVY INDUSTRY IN SOUTH TN:
“Everyone knows that there are no major industries in southern districts of Tamil Nadu…..Not a single heavy industry is there between Madurai – Kanyakumari district region….We want airlines of other countries UAE, Malaysia etc also to operate from our Madurai airport fully,” the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce president Mr.Jagadeesan, has said.
MADURAI – TUTICORIN INDUSTRIAL CORRIDOR ?
He pointed out that the Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) has to be used to its potential by the Civil Aviation Ministry for the Madurai airport which got its international connectivity five years ago.
“Madurai airport has huge scope for vegetables/ flowers and many large export consignments…..it will benefit our farmers in Madurai region…….And, the Madurai – Thoothukudi industrial corridor needs a land bank….If adequate infrastructure is there for us in and around Madurai, then the trade and industry will flourish…:,the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mr.N.Jagadeesan had appealed to the “Initiative for Public Policy’ forum.
