MADURAI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sent out a strong warning to the Madurai Corporation that the party is ready to launch a mass movement against the Corporation very soon for its complete failure to provide civic amenities.
Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan gave a call to the Madurai Urban district – city unit of the party – to be prepared for the public struggle and mass movement by involving thousands of people in Madurai city condemning the lethargic attitude of the Madurai Corporation authorities in the 100 wards of the corporation area.
He was speaking at the Madurai city BJP’s Executive Committee meeting held at K.Pudur in the city on October 29th 2017 (Sunday).
FIVE RESOLUTIONS PASSED:
A resolution was passed at the EC meeting where it was mentioned that Madurai had figured in the list of Smart Cities already announced by the Central Government.
“The Centre had allotted Rs.1,000 crore for the Madurai Smart City initiative…but there is no step taken so far for city’s development….The BJP strongly condemns this delay and it wants the Madurai Corporation Commissioner to start the works soon,” the resolution has said. Totally five resolutions were passed at the BJP Madurai City unit’s EC meeting.
DEMAND FOR AIIMS:
Demand for AIIMS in Madurai, broadening and enhancing the Villapuram to Madurai airport road to national highway standards, opposing the Madurai Corporation for doubling house tax and forcing the people to pay the house tax effective from 2011 besides demand for dengue control measures in the entire Corporation area, were among the five resolutions adopted at the BJP Madurai urban district’s EC meeting.
Dr.M.Siva Subramanian, BJP National Council Member and also party’s Tiruchi Division in-charge, addressed the office-bearers and gave them directions for strengthening the BJP at booth level.
Madurai Urban District BJP president Mr.Saseeraman and a large number of district office-bearers, mandal presidents and EC members attended the meeting on October 29th 2017.
