CHENNAI: Union Defence Minister Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman has appealed to the Tamil Nadu State Government to provide insurance cover to all people like what is being done in Andhra Pradesh.
“The Central Government has introduced two insurance schemes at low premium (Rs.330 for general and only Rs.12 per year for accident insurance)….. The Andhra Pradesh Government is paying premium for people there and the Central Government too gives share……So, Tamil Nadu government should follow the AP model,” she said.

The Union Defence Minister Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman was in Chennai on October 14th 2017 to participate in an event where she spoke about Modi government’s people welfare schemes, especially MUDRA loans and low premium insurance schemes, for the benefit of poor and deserving sections of our society.
“My earnest appeal to the Tamil Nadu government is to come forward and pay the premium for people so that they will be covered……Look at Andhra Pradesh and follow it,” she added.
